For the past four seasons, The Lone Star Ensemble has quietly supported other companies and their productions, most notably Jay Sefton’s LA Weekly award winning one-man show The Most Mediocre Story Never Told. Now, the Ensemble is back on the boards with its own productions of two exciting one-person shows.
For six weeks starting April 15, 2010 at the Lounge Theatre in Hollywood, Theresa Rebeck’s hit comedy BAD DATES, performed by LSE newcomer Samara Frame, will run in repertory with BLANK, written and performed by LSE co-founder Brian Stanton. Both plays deal with personal transition, challenging their heroes and us to release preconceptions of what should be and open their eyes to the mystery of what is.
To further their public benefit, the shows will be produced in a unique alliance with community organizations. BAD DATES will be sponsoring Dress For Success (dressforsuccess.org), which promotes the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and career development tools. As his play explores the identity issues of adoption, Brian Stanton will be performing Blank (and holding talkbacks) for various adoptee support groups in the Los Angeles area.
Believing that art can truly inspire social and economic change, the Lone Star Ensemble is dedicated to bringing that inspiration to the public. Please consider supporting us with a tax-deductible donation.
Thank you kindly, and we look forward to seeing you at the show!
